Week one of attachment is over, five more weeks to go. During this week, I have learnt alot under the machinery department. Propeller, main engine, thrusters and shaft. Those parts that I have encountered boils down to further detail, like the removal, changing, repair and how the thing works.

Besides the polytechnic vacation trainees, there were also NTU and NUS trainees as well. There attachment duration is 3 or 6 months, compared to our 6 weeks (=.=). Got to know some of those full timers there, rather friendly and socialble lot I must say. Over at the yard, there is no feeling of racist nor biasness, everyone mingles around as if they were long lost friends.

A week has passed and I'm aware that I'm attracting ALOT of attention. I spoke to one of the full timers and his answer was that from the combination of my suit and helmet, I'm holding the postion of "Trainer". My coverall (top and bottom) is biege in colour and white for my helmet. That is not the weird factor, the weird factor is that I look young, too young to be a trainer. That might be the reason that I'm attracting too much stares.

Additional informations, the rank of those working at the yard are distingushed by colour. For the hemlet, there are Red (Fire fighting leader), Blue (Shipwright), White (Supervisor, trainer and above)and Yellow (worker). There are also some other more add ons to the helmet. A helmet with a blue horizontal line means that person is trained to handle pipes. A green "+" sign at the side of the helmet makes a person a safety personal. A green "+" sign at the top of the helmet, that person is a crane direction coordinator.

For the coveralls, there are just 4 colours, Red (fire fighting team), Blue (damage control), White (supervisor and above) and lastly, Biege (worker).
